Schooling

As breeders who have successfully produced and competed our own youngsters, we have a thorough understanding of their development.

Our objective is not only to produce a horse to do the job for which it's required, but also to make every endeavour to ensure that it develops into a co-operative and well-mannered adult, whilst retaining its character and enjoying some fun! Of course, irrespective of its age, the progress of each youngster is dictated by its individual physical and mental maturity, which, as we all know, can vary enormously according to size, breed, etc!

Although a horse may be with us to be schooled for a particular discipline, we believe in adding variety to the sessions to aid concentration and avoid boredom.

We find this area of our work particularly rewarding, and you may rest assured that the whole exercise is undertaken with kindness, patience, and a necessary sprinkling of discipline!

Whilst we have a particular interest in the education and development of young horses, we're equally happy to take horses of any age and background for schooling, re-schooling, correction of a particular problem, preparation for competition, or just to keep them 'ticking over' for a busy owner!

By prior arrangement, you're welcome to come and watch your horse's schooling sessions, to receive training on your horse, or simply to practice in our floodlit manège.

During your horse’s stay with us, we also endeavour to establish whether there could be a physical problem which may be preventing their co-operation in certain areas and ensure that their tack fits correctly. No disrespect to any of our owners, but we have often found that, for example, one session from a chiropractor, or a change of saddle, can vastly improve, or even rectify, a longstanding problem. We can all benefit from a fresh pair of eyes!
